The MMORPG genre continues to expand on www.bloxcart.com. From sci-fi adventures to fantasy epics, these titles combine the best of RPGs in a persistent virtual environment.

1. Dune: Awakening

Dune: Awakening, set on the desert planet of Frank Herbert’s novels and Denis Villeneuve film franchise, looks to be the first open world survival MMO. Funcom’s Conan Exiles studio developed the game, which allows players to thrive in Arrakis where water and sandworms are just as commonplace as weapons and gear.

The game includes both standard survival features and those that are unique to Dune’s world, such as crafting, exploring dungeons and player-versusplayer combat. It also includes the ability to play politics and build guilds, which will lead to faction battles for control over Arrakis. Funcom is aiming to make character advancement more exciting by adding special abilities and powers as players level up.

During the Dune: Awakening Direct recently, we were able to see some of these features in action. Players can save blueprints for their builds to later replicate them in their base. Or they can sell the blueprints to other players on the CHOAM Exchange. These are only a few ways in which the game will allow players to explore a vast universe.

The game will also include all of the classic features of sci-fi. Players will be able to journey through the dangerous and beautiful landscapes of Arrakis, while also exploring the expansive universe that surrounds it. Depending on the choices they make, they may become a benevolent ruler like Duke Leto Atreides, or a tyrant in the style of Baron Harkonnen. Ultimately, they’ll be fighting for the precious life-enhancing spice that is only available on the planet.

2. Soulframe

The team behind Warframe is well-known for their free-to-play shooting games, but Soulframe could be the studio’s first venture into fantasy. It may help them take a risk and explore a new territory. This year’s TennoCon hosted a livestream where the dev team unveiled a new demo for their latest project, and it’s sure to excite fans of both traditional RPGs and the developer’s own brand of sci-fi fantasy.

Soulframe’s trailer explains that players will take on the role of “Envoys,” guardians tasked with protecting the nature from a variety of enemies who have corrupted the expansive lands. The world of Midrath is a land of men, beasts, magic, and divine entities, but it’s currently ruled by the kingdom of Ode, which has launched a war against the planet and its creatures.

While the story takes place in an open world, the game is also a fully-functioning MMO, with dangerous Dungeons and friendly Settlements to explore. Just like Warframe’s avatar customization, players can choose from a variety of unique abilities and weapons. This time, however, the class-based system has been replaced with Pacts. Pacts are stylized right arm gear that represents their unique ability set.

Soulframe’s melee combat moves much slower than Warframe. This requires players to be more methodical in their use of the environment and weapons. It’s a style that calls to mind the Souls-like games from FromSoftware, with an emphasis on blocking, parrying, and following attacks with melee strikes. It’s an approach that could prove particularly rewarding for players, who’ll be able to explore the massive overworld and complete missions at their own pace.

3. Pax Dei

Pax Dei offers an open world survival MMO with a unique blend community building and crafting. The game has stunning hand-drawn graphics, an intricate craft system, and a focus on teamwork.

Pax Dei, developed by Mainframe Industries and launched in Steam’s early access, has received mixed reviews. Players are still wanting more despite being sold the promise of creating their own world.

The premise of Pax Dei is simple enough. Players will be given a huge swath of land to explore, and will eventually want to settle somewhere to call home. The player can choose to settle at the base an old castle, in the middle of a large city, or in a wilderness.

To create their world, players must dig through the layers and uncover a wealth resources. Players will need to build structures using these resources to survive the cold nights of the world and the hostile creatures. It takes many hours to build even the simplest of structures.

Many players are becoming frustrated with the game because of these time requirements. When combined with the glacial pace of resource collection, it’s difficult for players find enjoyment in the games.

It’s not that Pax Dei can’t be a good game. On the contrary, it’s an excellent example of a sandbox MMO that has the potential to become a true legacy title. The team at Mainframe Industries is full of veteran developers who know how to make an epic experience that players will want to come back to again and again. With a few more key additions, Pax Dei could easily join the pantheon of decade-spanning MMOs that players have enjoyed for years.

4. Blue Protocol

If you’re looking for a more action-oriented MMO experience, Blue Protocol is your best bet. It was developed by NCSoft and takes place in Regnas. A devastated future world, you and your friends will have to battle hordes corrupted aliens while trying to uncover the truth about mankind’s origins. It features a rich character creation system, real-time combat that is fast-paced, and a wide variety of weapons. You can also choose from five anime-style characters.

As you progress, powerful new abilities will be unlocked to assist you and help you take on a series gruesome dungeons as well as tenacious world-bosses. There’s also plenty to enjoy in terms of PvP and raids. It’s not surprising that this is the longest-running and most popular MMORPG in history.

WoW remains one of most recognizable names despite suffering a major setback in its latest expansion. This titan of high-fantasy has captured millions of players with its beautifully told story, stunning visual design, and wide variety of breathtaking environments. It’s not as innovative or refined as some of the other games on this list but it still offers a thrilling journey.

5. Ashfall

Ashfall is a bleak, apocalyptic world that has been devastated due to environmental catastrophe. It’s an immersive experience. This narrative-driven, survival game combines FPS gameplay with MMORPG to give players a chance at survival and thrive in a ruined and dangerous world.

Players will be tasked with the ultimate goal of rebuilding civilization in this post-apocalyptic wasteland. They will be able complete quests, unlocking new technologies and interacting with NPCs around the world. To achieve their goals, players will need to collaborate with other players. The game’s robust social systems will allow players to form alliances and rivalries that shape their journey through the game.

Ashfall is a third person shooter that combines cover shooting with gunplay. The combat system requires players to dash from one vantage point to another in order to reach an enemy’s “blind spot” before taking them out. The game will also offer a variety of weapons and equipment to help players fight the powerful enemies that inhabit the game’s dangerous dungeons.

The beautiful landscapes of Ashfall will offer players a range of different natural environments to explore. From snow-covered mountains to scorching deserts, the game’s various environments will each have their own treasures to discover and enemies to defeat.

The team behind Ashfall brings a wealth experience in the FPS genre and MMORPG genre. They have worked on major titles like XCOM, Warframe, and Destiny, so they know how to make an immersive and engaging gameplay experience. The developer will continue to update the game and add new content to keep the game growing with the players.
